This is a reminder that we will go live on the new Text Notices System (Shoutbomb) Monday morning, the 18th.
I have attached the current versions of both the FAQ and Quick Info Sheet for you to use to help answer questions you or your patrons may have.
Some quick reminders of what to expect:
- Only active patrons that have texting as an option (~13k total) will receive the welcome message (see below).
- Patrons without a Text option selected will NOT be impacted in any way.
- We do anticipate a spike in calls to the library with some patrons wishing to opt out.
- No system outages are planned or expected.
- We will start the new service and deactivate the native texting in Polaris between 9am and 10am CT.
Initial Welcome Message text
The [Library Name] is excited to introduce enhanced features to our text notification system! You may now interact with your library account using keywords. Enter MYBOOKS to receive an overview of your library account and MYCARDS to receive a list of accounts registered to this phone number. The keyword ALL will request renewal of eligible items and CXH will cancel holds ready for pickup. Reply HELP for a list of all available keywords. For questions, assistance, or to opt-out of this service, please contact [Library Name] at [phone number].
Next Steps
Our initial rollout is only for text notices; but we plan to roll out additional features soon that will allow the library to send text messages to all your patrons or a select group, schedule closure reminders, and other features that help you engage with your patrons beyond circulation notices.
Email Notices Upgrade
Another reminder that we are also rolling out Vega LX – a necessary enhancement to email notices – now. We have several libraries live and LOVING it, so we encourage you to put in a ticket to start the process if your library has not already!
Thank you for all that you do and hope you are as excited as we are to have this new service available! If you have any issues or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
