CIRC-093 Link Verify
Report
The CIRC-093 “Link Verify” report compares the bibliographic
records for a specific shelflist in your library with your CIRC item records.
Any discrepancies between
an item's bibliographic record and its CIRC record, in the
barcode ID, shelflist ID/holding library, or OCLC number, is listed on this
report. Items that have only a bibliographic or
CIRC record are also listed.
You can use the “Link Verify” report to verify the barcoding
of specific shelflist ID/ holding libraries or more than one shelflist may be
included in the report (however,
shelflist items will be merged and arranged by their OCLC numbers and will not be in shelflist order)
Error messages are generated by PALS due to a
discrepancy between the item's bibliographic record and its CIRC record. The
following are the possible error messages:
NO BARCODE ITEM FOR BIB OR
SHELFLIST ERR
The system found no barcoded item linked to both this
bib record and shelflist. Use the
bib record information to look for the item. If you do not want to barcode the item that is fine! If you do want to barcode the item, use LIR (Load Item Record) or ECM (Enter Conversion Mode) to
barcode the item and create the item record. If the item has a barcode and was linked
to the wrong bib record, use CIR (change Item Record) to correct the
bibliographic record ID on the item record. If the item is barcoded, but the
shelflist ID included in the item record does not match the bib record, check to
determine which record’s shelflist is correct (OCLC or CIRC) and make the
appropriate correction.
ITEM SHELFLIST IS
BLANK
The shelflist ID was not entered in the item
record. Determine the shelflist ID
for the item and use the CIR (Change Item Record) command to enter it.
NEW ITEM – POSSIBLE SHELFLIST
ERROR
The item was loaded recently and the system wants you to
verify that the shelflist ID used is correct. If it is wrong, use CIR (Change Item
Record) to fix.
ITEM RECORD WITHOUT MATCHING
BIB
An item was entered into CIRC with a bib record ID that
does not exist in your online catalog.
Check your online catalog for the correct bib ID and if the number in the
item record is incorrect, use the CIR (change Item Record) command to
enter/change the correct bib record ID into the system so the item links to the
bib record. This error may also
mean that the bib record or item record was not loaded within the same
timeframe, so if you find the bib record ID is correct and also linked to the
bib record, do nothing.
UNABLE TO FIND 049 IN BIB FOR THIS
ITEM
If this message appears, contact
the ODIN Office.
INVALID OR MISSING END OF TAG
CHARACTER
If this message appears, contact
the ODIN Office.
ITEM SHELFLIST DOES NOT MATCH
BIB
The 049 field in the OCLC record and the shelflist ID
number in the item record do not match. Check the item to determine which record
(OCLC or CIRC) is incorrect. If the
CIRC record is incorrect, use the CIR command to correct it. You will have to correct the shelflist
ID and any other fields that need correction. If the OCLC record is incorrect, use the
(MED) Marc Editor to make the appropriate correction.
UNABLE TO VERIFY SHELFLIST
ID
The shelflist ID attached to this item no longer exists
in your institution profile. Use
SHELF to determine what the correct shelflist ID is and use CIR (Change Item
Record) to correct the error.
WITHDRAWN ITEM – BIB NOT
CANCELLED
The item record was withdrawn
from CIRC but still has a bib record in the system. Check to
see if the item was supposed to be withdrawn. If other items are linked to the bib
record, do nothing. If all item
records have been withdrawn and you do not intend to ever get another copy,
withdraw the bib record from OCLC.
If the record should not have been withdrawn, use the RWI (Reinstate
Withdrawn Item) command to reinstate the item record.
