Alma Resource Sharing User Group Meeting - December 2021

Meeting Summary:

Updates

• Joan Miller was elected as the 2022-2023 user group chair. Congratulations, Joan!
   
• Remember to update your Alma calendars for 2022 to ensure your due dates are applied correctly.
   
• NBJ is officially configured for direct Resource Sharing w/ Minitex. This will cut down the number of items they have to request through OCLC.
   
• January 2022 Release Notes didn't have anything interesting for Resource Sharing.
   
• Library updates
   
  • BSC is busy preparing for Tina's maternity leave. Nicole has been working with them to further automate their Resource Sharing.
     
  • CFL skyway to the Business School is under construction.
     
  • NMY former IVN rooms located in the library are being turned into a science lab.

Automatic Locates

• Lending Requests are currently set up to match on Title, ISBN/ISSN, OCLC number or LCCN.
   
• If any of the 'concrete fields' are missing (ISBN/ISSN, OCLC, LCCN), Alma is only able to match on the information available which is generally the Title field. This can result in false positives.
   
• Rules can be set up to prevent Borrowing Requests from being sent automatically if they are missing required fields. 
  • These rules can be found under Configuration --> Fulfillment --> Resource Sharing --> Sending Borrowing Request Rules

2022 meetings will occur every other month on the last Wednesday of the month at 9am. These will be on opposite months as the Fulfillment meetings. Invites will be sent out soon.

Next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022 at 9am CST and will be held via Microsoft Teams.
